Summer Reading Challenge: Week 2 Fantasy and Sci-Fi Escape
Welcome to Week 2 of the Summer Reading Challenge!
Whether your child gets lost in books for hours or just dips in now and then, this challenge is designed to be flexible, fun, and easy to follow at your own pace.
This week is all about magical lands, epic powers, and futuristic inventions. I’m inviting you to choose a book that takes you far beyond the real world, where anything is possible and imagination leads the way.
This week’s challenge:
📖 Read a fantasy or science fiction book with a magical or futuristic setting.
✍️ Activity: Design your own magical creature, spell, or piece of futuristic technology based on the book.
Suggested Reads:
Scythe by Neal Shusterman
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
If you'd like a printable version of this week’s challenge, I’ve created a worksheet to go alongside it - perfect for printing out, adding to a folder, or just using as a prompt.
