Welcome to Week 3 of the Summer Reading Challenge!

Whether your child flies through a stack of books or takes their time with one thoughtful read, this challenge is designed to be flexible, engaging, and easy to join in with.

This week we’re slowing things down a little to focus on real people, real events, and real emotions. It’s a chance to explore stories that feel personal, powerful, or rooted in real-life experiences - whether historical, current, or completely relatable.

This week’s challenge:

📖 Read a book based on real life or a true event.

✍️ Activity: Write a diary entry from the perspective of the main character.

Suggested Reads:

  • The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

  • Hidden Figures (Young Readers Edition) by Margot Lee Shetterly

  • Wonder by R.J. Palacio

If you'd like a printable version of this week’s challenge, I’ve created a worksheet to go alongside it - perfect for printing out, adding to a folder, or just using as a prompt.

Let me know what book you’re starting with - I’d love to hear how you get on!
