Home Education Courses

Our online, small group KS3 and IGCSE Home Education courses offer a curriculum-style approach to learning. Home Ed lessons follow a hybrid format, giving the perfect balance of support and flexibility.

What's included?

All courses include 1 live lesson per week and 2 pre recorded sessions to combine live teaching with the flexibility required for Home Ed families. Work can be submitted weekly for personalised marking and feedback.

For those students who prefer to work on their own and at their own pace, I also have a selection of pre-recorded self-led English units based around different themes and topics. Perfect for KS3 & KS4 home-educated students, these engaging resources are designed to develop core reading and writing skills through interactive activities, creative tasks, and real-world writing activities.

FAQs

What is the format of your Home Ed classes?

The Home Ed programme is a hybrid approach designed specifically to meet the needs of Home Educating families.

Each week students receive:

✔️ 1 live lesson

✔️ 2 pre recorded homework lessons

✔️ Marking and feedback

This combines live teaching and support with flexibility and personalised feedback.

Can we just use the recordings?

Yes, absolutely!

Live lessons aren’t the best fit for everyone. Some students prefer to pause and work at their own pace, others need more flexibility, and some simply feel more comfortable learning independently rather than in a group setting. (You can still submit work for marking and feedback too!)

Do you mark homework?

Yes! For all Home Ed programmes, work can be submitted weekly for marking.

Students are given personalised feedback on their work: this is a chance to see clear progress, celebrate what they have achieved and set next steps and targets.

Do I need to have my camera and microphone on?

This is a really common question. I’m aware that lots of students have anxiety about using cameras and microphones during live lessons, so these are always completely optional. If they do decide to have the camera on, I have Zoom set to ‘focus mode’ so only I can see them.

The most important thing is that they feel safe and comfortable to learn. Classes are low pressure and students can be involved in the chat as much or as little as they like. (They will never be put on the spot to answer a question)

Which exam specifications do you teach?

For Home Educated students I have courses for:

- Edexcel IGCSE English Language Spec A

- Edexcel IGCSE English Language Spec B

- Edexcel IGCSE English Literature

(I’m also an examiner for both Language specifications!)

What do your KS3 classes cover?

In KS3 classes we cover a different text or topic each half term and use this as a stimulus to develop core reading and writing skills. The aim is to build confidence, skills and understanding in order to ensure a seamless transition to an IGCSE course.
