1. Introduction
The safety and wellbeing of students is extremely important to My English Tutor.
We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive online learning environment where students can develop their English skills with confidence.
2. Tutor Checks and Training
All tutors working with My English Tutor:
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate
- Have appropriate safeguarding training
- Understand their responsibility to promote student safety and wellbeing
3. Creating a Safe Learning Environment
We aim to create a positive online learning environment where students are:
- Treated with respect
- Encouraged to participate confidently
- Supported in developing their skills
- Able to raise concerns if needed
Students are expected to behave respectfully towards tutors and other students.
4. Online Safety
Parents/carers remain responsible for their child’s supervision, wellbeing and online safety while accessing online tuition.
Parents/carers should ensure students access lessons from a suitable learning environment.
Students must use online platforms and resources appropriately.
5. Safeguarding Concerns
If we become concerned about a student’s safety, wellbeing or any safeguarding matter, we may need to share relevant information with appropriate organisations or professionals.
This may include situations where:
- A student discloses something concerning
- We believe a student may be at risk of harm
- We have concerns about a student’s wellbeing
We will always act in the best interests of the student.
5. Online Lessons and Recordings
Live lessons may be recorded for educational, safeguarding or quality purposes.
Recordings will only be accessed by My English Tutor and registered students where appropriate. Recordings will not be shared publicly.
Only the tutor’s camera will appear on lesson recordings.
6. Confidentiality
Information shared with My English Tutor will be treated confidentially unless:
- We are required to share information by law
- Sharing information is necessary to protect a student or another person
- A safeguarding concern requires further action
